Someone once said: 'When your passion and purpose are greater than your fears and excuses, you will find a way.'

If ever there was a case in point, it's Darren Mooney.

Darren loved the classical and choral music his parents listened to throughout his childhood in Newtownmountkennedy.

Years later, while in the midst of a very successful career, his love for that music started tugging at his sleeve and wouldn't let go. He tested the waters first, though, and...once the experts confirmed that he indeed had plenty of raw talent and wasn't just dreaming...he took the plunge in his thirties and started voice training in earnest.

At his first audition in 2011, after he'd begun serious training, he was immediately cast to play Bogdanovich in 'The Merry Widow' in The Little Theatre, Gorey.

He hosted his first solo show in October 2013 in his hometown of Newtownmountkennedy to a wildly impressed sellout crowd of 350 people to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Association and for the Wicklow Dementia Support Group.

More recently he performed in Karl Orff's 'Carmina Burana' in Wicklow, as well as another benefit concert in Newtownmountkennedy where he raised €4000 for the Kilmurray Church Renovation Fund.

He has also performed as a soloist at our National Opera House in Wexford on several occasions.

And now...he is a full-time tenor who performs in private and corporate concerts nationwide and abroad.
